the Pig-raising-business in Lourdes' Home Village (near Dumaguete City, Negros Island) As of May 2003
our humble pig-sty compound, from the north
The pig-sty seen over its northern wall. This is the "basic" model, for sure; still, it's the best in this area. There are five stalls for the pigs to live in, with roof -- they're full now, as we are up to 34 porkers of various ages -- a yard for running around & play (we provide toys), a shelter for the caretakers, and a well with hand-pump.
Grafitti on a cement wall, by the teenage boys we hire after school-hours. On top -- they are Catholics not atheists, I'm pretty sure they meant "Refuge" :-) David and Lourdes Enojo Mason (the patrons of this project) are named; M. E stands for Mason & Enojo, and there's a wish that God will 'blees' us ;-) The Visayan text on the right wishes that we will stay happily together until the end of time. Me, too :-)
The stars of the show! Our first sow, pregnant again, and some of her first brood, born in Jan 03.
Our second sow gave birth to 13, in May 03 while Lou was still there.
Lidiow, Dennis and Mom as birth-doctors...
Lourdes (R) and Joanne, resting
Their very first time to run in the courtyard!
